Pinchas Cohen Gan is an Israeli artist,
Born in 1942, Morocco.

Cohen Ganis considered one of the most prominent artists in Israeli conceptual art. In his works, Cohen Gan focuses on expanding the boundaries of traditional art.

At the beginning of his of his artistic path, Cohen Gan dealt with political and social questions through "actions" centered on a visual image. From the mid-1970s, he began to concentrate "on trying to reduce the distance between the idea and its visual expression," he said.

Over the years out of a search for a super-language in art, which will bridge the gap between the hidden and the experiential in the work and the rational, conceptual, formulaic, he has created his own private language. A language composed of signifiers, in which he assimilated concepts from his inner world.

Cohen Gan has presented solo and group exhibitions in Israel and abroad. His works are in collections around the world.

Pinchas Cohen Gan has won many awards for his artistic work, including the Hermann Struck Prize (1970), the Sandberg Prize (1979), the Lifetime achievement in arts Prize (2005), the Israel Prize for Painting (2008) and more.
