Michel Haddad was a painter.
Born in 1943, Tunis.
Died in 1968, Paris, France.
Haddad is an almost forgotten painter, although his work has been recognized and appreciated in its time. He developed an independent drawing style, first in small notebooks that he filled with personal images and later moved on to paint on larger pages and reached a more complex coloration. Existential situations left their imprints on pages. Hadad filled canvases with microscopic signs and textual clues, with stains, figure and animal hints, numbers and letters, creating a crumbling world.
Hadad's works are in the collections of the two major museums in Israel and also in private collections.
In 1977 he was awarded Beatrice Kolliner Prize for Young Artists, Israel Museum, Jerusalem.
